AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers around the implementation of the new definition of the kilogram, which is now based on the Kibble balance and Planck's constant. Participants express their excitement about this change, with some celebrating by engaging in physical activities like walking and swimming, reflecting on the significance of measurement and data collection in their experiences. There is a lighthearted acknowledgment that the transition to this new standard may affect jobs related to the previous definition, specifically referencing the official kilogram cleaner at the BIPM in Paris. I celebrated by going for a long walk this morning to try to shed one of my spare kilograms. :woot:

I suppose this means that the official kilogram cleaner at the BIPM in Paris is now out of a job.

I swam laps for a long time (3x15 minute intervals) with intervening soaks in a hot spa.

Contemplated measurement and data collection while watching the warm water mix with the deeper cold.

Every day we learn new things. Sometimes it's just a small fact or realization. No matter how trivial or random, let's start recording our daily lessons. Please start off with "Today I learned". Keep commentary to a minimum and just LIKE posts. I'll start! Today I learned that you clean up a white hat by spraying some cleaner with bleach on it (rinse before putting it back on your head!)
