How did you find PF?
Don't remember, I just knew it existed.
I'm currently a computer engineering student. I'm going to a community college. I enjoy hiking, chocolate, painting my nails and inhaling the fumes, consuming entertainment and making jokes and puns

:welcome:

Sounds like all healthy interests that will fit right in on PF. We have whole mega-threads on (bad) jokes and puns.

And regarding inhaling, don't worry - some go sky diving or free climbing in their spare time, others just inhale.

(Obligatory disclaimer: inhaling fumes is not recommended and is in general not endorsed by members of this site).

Which aromatic component of nail polish fumes better strikes your fancy? If regular nail polish remover doesn't do it for you as well as regular nail polish does, then you probably like the toluene (methyl benzene) more than you like the acetone.

According to:
ATSDRHeaderLogo.gif

  • Toluene is irritating to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. It can cause systemic toxicity by ingestion or inhalation and is slowly absorbed through the skin. The most common route of exposure is via inhalation. Symptoms of toluene poisoning include CNS effects (headache, dizziness, ataxia, drowsiness, euphoria, hallucinations, tremors, seizures, and coma), ventricular arrythmias, chemical pneumonitis, respiratory depression, nausea, vomiting, and electrolyte imbalances.
In practice, toluene (and acetone) exposure due to nail polish may reach hazardous levels for some cosmetics workers, but not for most ordinary nail polish users who do only the nails of small numbers of persons.

And welcome aboard PF, @Eto

And on that cheerful note, we'll go ahead and tie this thread off with a bow.

Hello everyone, I'm Cosmo. I'm an 18 years old student majoring in physics. I found this forum cause I was searching on Google if it's common for physics student to feel like they're in the wrong major in the first semester cause it feels like too much for me to learn the materials even the ones that are considered as "basic math" or "basic physics", I've initial fascination with the universe's mysteries and it disconnect with the reality of intense, foundational mathematics courses required...
Hello everyone, I'm AlexR, a passionate physics enthusiast from Wisconsin, USA. I've been fascinated by the wonders of the universe for as long as I can remember, and I'm excited to join this community to deepen my understanding and engage in insightful discussions. Background: I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, and my journey into physics began during my academic years. Over time, my interest has expanded to various areas, including: Classical Mechanics: Exploring the foundational...
