The discussion focuses on the conventions for numbering assembly drawings, emphasizing that these systems often reflect a hierarchy of sub-assemblies and assemblies. The example provided, Xyz-00-12-23-34, illustrates a typical format used in such numbering systems. Participants note that each company may have its own unique numbering convention, leading to variations across different organizations. For further guidance, a resource from the National CAD Standard is recommended. Understanding these conventions is crucial for maintaining clarity and consistency in engineering documentation.

Hello, can someone tell me what's the convention for numbering an assembly drawing...like the drawing no consists of hierarchy of sub assemblies and assemblies in the main assembly. For example

My idea is that I want to use immerse Whitetail Antlers in a fishtank to measure their volumetric displacement (the Boone and Crockett system is the current record measurement standard to place in a juxtaposition with) I would use some sight glass plumbed into the side of the tank to get the change in height so that I can multiply by the tank cross-section. Simple Idea. But... Is there a simple mechanical way to amplify the height in the sight glass to increase measurement precision...
