Are there any astrophysics/theoreticle physics colleges near or in a major city like Boston or L.A. So far i only found Harvard.

Physics news on Phys.org
University of Maryland is just outside of DC.

Just off the top of my head, and checked with quick Google searches:

New York: Columbia U
Chicago: U of Chicago
San Francisco: U of California at Berkeley
Philadelphia: U of Pennsylvania
Los Angeles: Cal Tech, UCLA

Depending on your definition of "major city" you can probably add more:

U of Michigan (Ann Arbor), U of Arizona (Tucson), U of Texas (Austin), etc.

Toronto for astro is another choice.
