I am currently re teaching myself the lower levels of math and was wondering what would the best ways for remembering is it just straight memorization? Or is there another way?

That might work for linear algebra.
 
At this point I am working on algebra and working my way to calculus
 
Probably the best way is to buy an algebra book and go through each chapter doing all the practice problems.
