Best ways/sites to search for teaching job

AI Thread Summary
To find instructor jobs in Chicago, it's recommended to check local college and university websites, specifically the Physics Department and Human Resources sections. The Physics Today jobs website and the Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (HERC) are valuable resources for job listings. Attending the AAPT event in February may provide networking opportunities with participating institutions. Additionally, visiting schools in person and dropping off a CV can enhance job prospects. Exploring high schools and specialized institutions like IMSA or the University of Chicago Lab School may also yield opportunities.

What are the best ways or internet sites to search the local colleges for job as an instructor, not necessarily tenure track? I am in Chicago, IL.

Physics news on Phys.org
Here's what I would do:

Note that in February the http://www.aapt.org/events/wm2009/" will be in Chicago. [I'll be there.]
Some local institutions might be among those participating in the Job Fair. Check the Physics Today jobs website: http://www.aip.org/pt/jobs/ .

I'd visit the homepages of the Physics Department and the Human Resources department of each institution.

(Use Google or Yahoo maps to find the institutions: e.g. maps.google.com/maps?q=college loc%3A Chicago%2C IL. Make the appropriate changes for "university", "institute", "school", etc... )

Since you are local, you also might consider making contact with places and maybe visiting in person and dropping off your CV [just in case].

Also, if you choose to work in one, do you think the engineering education provide from your school would adequately prepare you for the job. What do I mean by that? Well if you work at say Lockheed Martin and you work in the latest iteration of a missile or if you work at Pratt & Whitney, they assign you to work in the team helping out with building the jet...
Hello, I graduated from undergrad a few years ago with a Major in Physics and minor in Electrical Engineering. I tried to get experience working on and testing circuits through my professor who studied Neutrinos, however covid caused the opportunity to go away and I graduated with no experience or internships. I have attempted to break into the engineering industry with no success. Right now I am considering going for a Masters in Electrical Engineering and I need advice on if this would be...
So lately, my interest in the realm of optics/optoelectronics/photonics engineering has grown and I have started to seriously consider pursuing a career in the field. I have done a bit of career research and also have done some learning on the side to gather more knowledge on these topics. However, I have some questions on what a career in these fields would look like, and I wanted to find out more about this area to know what I would be getting myself into if I did make the choice to pursue...
