AI Thread Summary
Blog entries on PF are allowed more personal expression but must still adhere to the overall guidelines of the forum. Content such as obscenity, hate speech, and personal attacks is prohibited in both blogs and forums. While there is some flexibility for "wacky" entries, they should not violate PF standards. Recent changes to the guidelines have emphasized this balance between personal expression and community standards. Overall, maintaining a respectful and constructive environment is essential in both blog posts and forum discussions.

Recently, I've read some pretty wacky blog entries. If these blogs were PF posts, they wouldn't measure up to PF standards.

We have clearly defined rules for posting on PF, but what are the rules for blog posts?

Blog Guidelines:
PF welcomes you to take advantage of its blog feature. We recognize that blog entries are inherently personal; accordingly, more flexibility is permitted there than would be suitable in the main forums. Nonetheless, blog entries are subject to the same overall guidelines in effect throughout PF, as appropriate. Personal theories are not permitted in blogs. Obscenity, hate speeches, religious screeds, personal attacks on other members, and promotion of crackpottery are not welcome anywhere on PF. Be aware that "Private" blog entries are viewable by Mentors and Admin.

Report them lisa. The same rules apply in the blogs as the forum, as dl has pointed out. The guidelines were recently changed.

We are generally more tolerant and accepting of "wacky" content in blogs.

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
