It can be easily proved that Bose Einstein condensation can be got in infinite 2D. But what about finite 2D with extreme large "Volume" L^2 ?
Actually, you can't get BEC in an infinite 2D system. If the volume is finite, then you can get a coherence length greater than the size of the system, and have effective condensation.
