Bug: Prune's Post Count Appears at 0

AI Thread Summary
Prune, a new user on Physics Forums, has a post count of zero despite having made at least two posts, leading to questions about whether this is a bug or a feature. It is clarified that posts in the General Discussion subforum do not contribute to a user's post count, which explains Prune's situation. Additionally, users are experiencing issues with right-clicking on smilies, although text codes for smilies still function. Some users suggest that left-clicking may resolve the issue, while others note occasional problems with the smilie menu layout. Overall, the discussion highlights the distinction between post counts in different subforums and minor technical issues with the forum interface.

A newbie PF user, Prune, has at least two posts, but the post count is given as zero:

Is this a bug? Or a feature? It might be relevant to note that one of the posts in the link cited was moved by a moderator from another subforum.

Also, I noticed that earlier today, the right clicking on the smilies no longer works for me, although the text codes still work.

It probably means that his posts were in General Discussion. Posting in General Discussion does not increase your post count.

A feature.

Posts in General Discussion aren't included in members' post counts, as they're like tea-time chat.

Right-clicking smilies? Try left-clicking. They work fine for me.

I've had trouble with the smilies a few times as well. Every once in a while the 'framework' line on the right margin moves into the smilie menu. Anything on the outside of that line is unselectable. Usually, that's the 4th & 5th columns. As Chris mentioned, though, the codes still work.

Got it, thanks, guys!

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
This came up in my job today (UXP). Never thought to raise it here on PF till now. Hyperlinks really should be underlined at all times. PF only underlines them when they are rolled over. Colour alone (especially dark blue/purple) makes it difficult to spot a hyperlink in a large block of text (or even a small one). Not everyone can see perfectly. Even if they don't suffer from colour deficiency, not everyone has the visual acuity to distinguish two very close shades of text. Hover actions...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
