SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the search for a suitable textbook for studying Calorimetry and Thermodynamics in preparation for the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO). The user currently utilizes "University Physics" by HD Young but finds its problems and solutions lacking. Vasilis Themelis recommends "Thermodynamics" by Zemanasky as a superior alternative with more comprehensive problems and detailed solutions.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of basic thermodynamic principles
  • Familiarity with calorimetry concepts
  • Experience with problem-solving in physics
  • Knowledge of IPhO exam requirements
NEXT STEPS
  • Research "Thermodynamics" by Zemanasky for its problem sets
  • Explore additional resources on calorimetry techniques
  • Study advanced thermodynamics concepts relevant to IPhO
  • Practice with past IPhO exam questions
USEFUL FOR

Students preparing for the International Physics Olympiad, educators seeking effective teaching materials, and anyone looking to deepen their understanding of Calorimetry and Thermodynamics.

I am studying for the IPhO and I am using University Physics by HD Young. I think that the book's problems in Calorimetry and Thermodynamics are not very good and also there are not detailed solutions to the problems. Can anybody propose to me any good textbook with more problems and detailed solutions?
