Can I Easily Understand Current HEP Research Without an Academic Background?

AI Thread Summary
To effectively comprehend current research in High Energy Physics (HEP), it is recommended to start with review papers that summarize key concepts and findings in the field. Additionally, utilizing textbooks that compile various research papers can provide a structured approach to learning. Specializing in a specific area within HEP can also help bridge knowledge gaps and enhance understanding. Engaging with these resources will facilitate the ability to read and contribute to research papers, even without formal affiliation with an academic department.

Hi , I want to be able to read and comprehend easily Current research on HEP ( High energy Physics ) . I 'm quite familiar with quantum field theory and I'm Currently learning General Relativity . But I think there is a big gap of knowledge that exist preventing me from this . I also want to make my own contributions .My problem is that I'm not affliated with a physics academic department . Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
