Can You Solve the Mystery of the Mislabelled Boxes?

AI Thread Summary
The puzzle involves three incorrectly labeled containers: one for pencils, one for erasers, and one for both. The solution requires selecting one item from the box labeled "pencils and erasers." If a pencil is drawn, it indicates that the box labeled "erasers" actually contains both items, while the box labeled "pencils" must contain only erasers. Conversely, if an eraser is drawn, the box labeled "pencils" contains both items, and the box labeled "erasers" contains only pencils. This logical deduction allows for the correct labeling of all boxes based on just one selection.

Interesting puzzle I came across today, not too tough, but rewarding in the end.

There are three containers labeled "pencils," "erasers," and "pencils and erasers". Each of these labels is incorrect. You may select only one item from one box. (No feeling around/peeking permitted.) How can you label each box correctly?

Sorry if it has been posted already.

u go into the box containinng both ..if u take out a pencil then u know that the box labeled erasers contains erasers and penicils and the box labeled pencils contains erasers.
