AI Thread Summary
The KICP Inaugural Symposium "New Views of the Universe" will explore significant advancements in cosmology and particle physics over the past decade. It aims to unite experts from various fields to discuss the latest theories, experiments, and observations at the intersection of particle physics and cosmology. The event also honors the legacy of David Schramm, a key figure in this research area. Although some anticipated presentations, such as those from the WMAP team, have been delayed, the conference is expected to provide valuable insights. Overall, the symposium promises a comprehensive overview of current and future cosmological research.

Cosmological discoveries of the past 10 years have revolutionized our view of the Universe. The KICP Inaugural Symposium "New Views of the Universe" will focus on a broad range of topics from particle physics and cosmology of the early universe to structure formation in the local Universe. The Symposium aims to bring together cosmologists, particle physicists, astrophysicists, and astronomers from around the world to discuss the current status and the future of theory, experiments, and observations at the particle physics - cosmology interface. The Symposium will also honor the memory of David Schramm who was a pioneer in research at the interface of cosmology and particle physics.

Yeah, a lot of the grad students here are going to that conference. Unfortunately, I have other obligations this week, but it looks like it'll be a good one. I think the WMAP team had originally intended to present some of their new results at this conference, but the release has been delayed again. Word is, however, that it's going to happen very soon.

Looks like a nice conference...although I will have some minor trouble with getting there in time:-p
Btw, is this one something you over there could recommend?

Anyone been to it before?

It certainly looks like it would be good, if their advisory committee is any indication. Those are some pretty big names.

Yeap, I recognize/have listened to some of them.
We'll see how I'll do. It would be nice, but as always it's about money too...so I want to be sure it's worth it.

A pretty comprehensive spectrum of views, almost a new Universe!.. perspective that is.

Amazing , just a glance at the abstracts tells me it will be a worthwhile Symposium, great stuff.

Publication: Redox-driven mineral and organic associations in Jezero Crater, Mars Article: NASA Says Mars Rover Discovered Potential Biosignature Last Year Press conference The ~100 authors don't find a good way this could have formed without life, but also can't rule it out. Now that they have shared their findings with the larger community someone else might find an explanation - or maybe it was actually made by life.
TL;DR Summary: In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. In case of failure to detect alien signals, it will further expand the radius of the so-called silence (or rather, radio silence) of the Universe. Is there any sense in this or is blissful ignorance better? In 3 years, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) telescope (or rather, a system of telescopes) should be put into operation. This thread is dedicated to the beauty and awesomeness of our Universe. If you feel like it, please share video clips and photos (or nice animations) of space and objects in space in this thread. Your posts, clips and photos may by all means include scientific information; that does not make it less beautiful to me (n.b. the posts must of course comply with the PF guidelines, i.e. regarding science, only mainstream science is allowed, fringe/pseudoscience is not allowed). n.b. I start this...
