Computer Simulation of Wireless Induction?

Click For Summary
Software for simulating magnetic induction is essential for analyzing the impact of distance and winding numbers on transfer efficiency between coils. Users recommend finite element method (FEM) software as the industry standard for electromagnetics simulations. While Maxwell's student version is no longer available, alternatives can be found on Wikipedia's list of finite element software packages. Programs like Tina and Simulink are limited to ideal transformers and do not account for real-world flux losses. Recommendations for specific FEM software were requested to aid in the research.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of software that would allow me to simulate magnetic induction.

I'm researching into the effects distance and the number of windings has on the effect of transfer efficiency between two coils.

I've seen lots of people mention Maxwell, but they seem to have discontinued their student version. I've used programs such as Tina and Simulink, but they only seem to let me do an ideal transformer, and presumably (i'm an engineer not a physicist :-/) there will be lot of flux lost through the air transfer, hence the use of an Iron Core.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

AJ

Thread 'I thought it was only Amazon that sold unsafe junk'
I grabbed an under cabinet LED light today at a big box store. Nothing special. 18 inches in length and made to plug several lights together. Here is a pic of the power cord: The drawing on the box led me to believe that it would accept a standard IEC cord which surprised me. But it's a variation of it. I didn't try it, but I would assume you could plug a standard IEC cord into this and have a double male cord AKA suicide cord. And to boot, it's likely going to reverse the hot and...
