Dance of Magnetic Fields Exposed to Human Eyes

AI Thread Summary
Scientists from NASA’s Space Sciences Laboratory have created a CGI simulation that visualizes magnetic fields, which are normally invisible to the human eye. This simulation uses sound-controlled technology and 3D compositing to depict how these fields might appear if they were visible. Some participants in the discussion question the realism of the simulation, noting that magnetic fields are typically understood to be uniform and symmetric, similar to traditional bar magnet illustrations. Others appreciate the creativity of the visualization, expressing excitement about the concept. The conversation highlights both curiosity and skepticism regarding the representation of magnetic fields.

Unfortunately, magnetic fields are by their nature invisible, but scientists from NASA’s Space Sciences Laboratory have managed to put on film what these natural phenomenons would look like if we could see them with our own eyes. Please note that this is a simulation and has been created using sound-controlled CGI and 3D compositing. Enjoy!

Is that even realistic? Shouldn't there be some sort of consistency in the patterns?

I see consistency...very cool thanks for posting! Just one more thing to dream about...

I thought magnetic fields were uniform and symmetric, much like the drawings of a magnetic field of a bar magnet. Static and constant.
Why are those likes going all over the place?
Thanks :)

It may be shown from the equations of electromagnetism, by James Clerk Maxwell in the 1860’s, that the speed of light in the vacuum of free space is related to electric permittivity (ϵ) and magnetic permeability (μ) by the equation: c=1/√( μ ϵ ) . This value is a constant for the vacuum of free space and is independent of the motion of the observer. It was this fact, in part, that led Albert Einstein to Special Relativity.
