Unfortunately, magnetic fields are by their nature invisible, but scientists from NASA’s Space Sciences Laboratory have managed to put on film what these natural phenomenons would look like if we could see them with our own eyes. Is that even realistic? Shouldn't there be some sort of consistency in the patterns?

I thought magnetic fields were uniform and symmetric, much like the drawings of a magnetic field of a bar magnet. Static and constant.
Why are those likes going all over the place?

It may be shown from the equations of electromagnetism, by James Clerk Maxwell in the 1860’s, that the speed of light in the vacuum of free space is related to electric permittivity (ϵ) and magnetic permeability (μ) by the equation: c=1/√( μ ϵ ) .
