Difference between Substrate & Base material in Printed Circuit Board?

Click For Summary
The discussion clarifies that the substrate in printed circuit boards (PCBs) is typically made from fiberglass materials such as FR4, while the substrate in very large scale integration (VLSI) circuits is primarily silicon. It addresses the misconception that VLSI substrates could be copper plates, emphasizing that silicon is the standard material used. Additionally, it differentiates between the terms "substrate" and "base material," noting that in the context of VLSI, the base material refers to silicon, contrasting with the fiberglass used in PCBs. Overall, the conversation highlights the distinct materials and functions of substrates in PCB and VLSI applications.

What is the Difference between Substrate & Base material in Printed Circuit Board?

What is the difference between Substrate material in PCB and in semiconductor [VLSI] ?Is the VLSI substrate Cu plate?

Is the substrate of VLSI a fibre glass or it is something else?

What is the base material/Substrate in VLSI?

VLSI ICs are generally made of silicon.

PC Boards are generally made of fiberglass material, like FR4.

I am trying to understand how transferring electric from the powerplant to my house is more effective using high voltage. The suggested explanation that the current is equal to the power supply divided by the voltage, and hence higher voltage leads to lower current and as a result to a lower power loss on the conductives is very confusing me. I know that the current is determined by the voltage and the resistance, and not by a power capability - which defines a limit to the allowable...
