Well, does it matter if protons are made of quarks? Does it matter that black holes exist in the center of galaxies? Almost certainly not in any sort of day-to-day way. Knowledge about the universe isn't a means. It's an end. A good goal, in and of itself.

1. What is the difference between finite and infinite?

The term finite refers to something that has a definite or limited size or magnitude, while infinite refers to something that has no limits or boundaries and is unbounded.

2. How does the concept of size apply to the universe?

The concept of size is crucial in understanding the vastness of the universe. The universe is believed to be infinitely large, meaning it has no set boundaries or limits. However, scientists have estimated the observable universe to have a finite size of about 93 billion light years across.

3. Does the size of the universe affect its age?

According to the Big Bang theory, the universe began as a singularity and has been expanding ever since. The size of the universe does not affect its age, as it has been expanding for approximately 13.8 billion years regardless of its size.

4. How do scientists study the size of the universe?

Scientists use various methods to estimate the size of the universe, including measuring the distances and redshifts of galaxies, studying the cosmic microwave background radiation, and observing the expansion of the universe through the use of telescopes and satellites.

5. Does the size of the universe have any impact on life on Earth?

The size of the universe may not directly impact life on Earth, but it does play a crucial role in the formation and evolution of our planet. The vastness of the universe allows for the diversity and complexity of life to thrive on Earth. Additionally, studying the size of the universe helps us understand our place in the cosmos and the potential for life on other planets.
