I need to calculate the equivalent capacitance of this circuit, but I cannot tell which of the capacitors are in series or in parallel. Can someone explain to me how can we figure this out?

Things in parallel make connections which share two nodes, thus they share the same potential difference across them. Things in series share one node exclusively (no other connections at that node), thus the same current passes through both of them.
