AI Thread Summary
Adding HCl to the NH3 + H2O equilibrium shifts the reaction to the left, according to Le Chatelier's principle. This occurs as HCl donates protons (H+) that bond with OH- ions, forming water. Consequently, the concentration of NH4+ increases while the concentration of OH- decreases, leading to a decrease in pH. The system responds to the added HCl by favoring the formation of reactants. Overall, the addition of HCl results in a more acidic solution.

NH3 + H2O <--> NH4+ OH-

If i add a few drops of HCl to this solution which way would the equilibrium shift... and what are the changes to the system. Thanks.

Are you familiar with Le Chatelier's principle? What happens to the pH as the reaction proceeds? What happens when you add HCL?

shift to left, would it not?, the h would bond to the oh and create H2O

I don't get how to argue it. i can prove: evolution is the ability to adapt, whether it's progression or regression from some point of view, so if evolution is not constant then animal generations couldn`t stay alive for a big amount of time because when climate is changing this generations die. but they dont. so evolution is constant. but its not an argument, right? how to fing arguments when i only prove it.. analytically, i guess it called that (this is indirectly related to biology, im...
