Dear All,

I would like to calculate fatigue life for the following:

A SS430F metal component is repeatedly hitting at 0.10mm SS304 sheet with 1 Kg load from 0.20 mm distance.

Assume,
Area of hitting: 5.5mm X 16mm = 88 Sq.mm.
Hitting load = 1 Kg
Tensile strength of 0.10mm SS304 sheet is 515 MPa.
Yield strength of 0.10mm SS304 sheet is 205 MPa.
Hardness of 0.10mm SS304 sheet is 85 HRB.
Expected life of 0.10mm SS304 sheet is 50 crores impact forces.

How to calculate the fatigue life of 0.10mm SS304 sheet.

Kindly help me to solve this problem.

1. Identify the fatigue limit for you material
2. Identify the correcting factors for your conditions
3. Identify the concentration factor if your design has holes or notches
4. If you have impact load, identify the correction factor for the imposed stress
5. Determine the mean and amplitude stresses that will be applied to your part. Then all you have to do is to choose one of the criteria (Soderberg, Goodman or Gerber, according to how conservative you wish to be) to find your safety factor.
