Hello!
I wonder whether you have ever thought about freedom, and what is it for you?

In my view, compatibilistic freedom is to make decisions without duress.

First you need to define what you mean by freedom.

Freedoms just another word for nothing left to loose~ Kris Kristofferson

Its the word USA uses for French when they're annoyed with France.

In the immortal words of the Vandals "America stands for freedom, but if you think you're free, try walking into a deli, and urinating on the cheese"

People don't have freedom and people really don't want freedom. It's just a buzz word that america throws around a lot.

Dude, I have enough homework to do. I don't want to do yours, too.

I asked my wife what freedom is. She said that when I finish the yardwork, take out the garbage, wash the dishes, and bring her a box of chocolates she will tell me. I'll keep you posted.

No ball. No chain. And nothin left to lose (apparently).

The gf always quotes this line... is it just me, or is it a terrible phrase, and not something to be proud of?

Still, I never knew it was by the second greatest KK ever to live.

Hmm, I always thought that was from a Janis Joplin song?

Kris Kristofferson wrote it in the song: http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.nsf/Me-Bobby-McGee-lyrics-Janis-Joplin/DB4A0F6EDA995B334825695900340DC4"
Roger Miller recorded it first, and then Janis Joplin.

Janis (and a lot of others) sang it, Kris wrote it.

To me it captures the true essense of freedom. Material things bind you, when you have nothing left to lose, you are free.

Yes, that's what it is to me, too.

It's true that people and responsibilities tie a person down and lessen their freedom. But I'll keep my people and responsibilites :approve: !

For me freedom is when you are free from your fears.

For example, I've been trying to overcome the fear "what others will think of me?"
(hope I'll succeed)))

So it's a long way to freedom, because when you've coped with one fear, you discover another one, which is hidden deeper in your mind...
Sure, being free from fears doesn't mean you needn't be careful or use your common sense.
