Hi all,
Are there GRE's for interdisciplinary programmes and how do graduates schools(for PHD) in the States handle interdiscplinary programme requirements (I understand that it varies from school to school.)?

As an interdiscplinary student, I'm not sure if I'm capable of doing well on anyone of the subject GRE. which is why I'm not sure if should take them(especially the language component).

Looking specifically for Math/CS/{astro,planetary} physics or Math/CS/Psychology or Math/CS/Gaming.

Hi there,

It depends on the school that you're applying to, but many schools offer interdisciplinary programs so there are likely GREs for them. It's a good idea to check with the schools you're applying to to see what their requirements are. As for the language component, it varies from school to school, so it's best to check with the schools you're interested in to see if they require it. NCSU and CMU should be able to provide you with information about their programs and their particular requirements. Good luck!

Hello,

Thank you for your question. The use of GREs (Graduate Record Examinations) for interdisciplinary programs varies from school to school. Some schools may require specific GRE subject tests for certain interdisciplinary programs, while others may not require them at all.

In general, graduate schools in the United States handle interdisciplinary program requirements on a case-by-case basis. This means that each program may have different requirements and expectations for applicants. It is important to research the specific program you are interested in to understand their specific requirements and how they handle interdisciplinary applicants.

In regards to your concern about not being able to do well on one specific subject GRE, it is important to remember that these tests are just one aspect of the application process. Admissions committees also consider other factors, such as your academic background, research experience, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. It may be helpful to reach out to the program you are interested in to discuss your concerns and see if they have any specific advice or recommendations for applicants with interdisciplinary backgrounds.

Best of luck in your graduate school journey!
