AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on a 16-year-old student in their second-last year of high school, expressing concerns about their educational progress. They are studying Singapore Math (College Math) and have covered basic calculus, differentiation, and integration. In science, they are currently engaged in high school physics after completing chemistry and biology, though they feel the need to review biology from two years ago. Participants in the discussion reassure the student that their school's curriculum is likely sufficient to provide a solid foundation and that by the time they apply for universities, they should have a clearer idea of their interests. Comparisons indicate that the student is slightly ahead in math and on par in science with typical educational progress for their age. Overall, the consensus is that as long as the student is comfortable with their current studies, they are on the right track.

I'm currently 16, doing second-last year of High School.
For certain reasons, I'm "in the dark" in regard to where I am with my education :P.
It's just like ... when I come here on PF, my breath just gets taken away with the topics and levels of discussion which go on here; makes me kind of worried.

Here's what I'm doing:
Math - Singapore Math (College Math) Volume 1 (Corresponds to second last high school year, I think), done some basic calculus, differentiation and integration.

Science - In the middle of Highschool Physics, after completing Chemistry and Biology. Unfortunately Biology, from 2 years ago, has worked it's way out of my brain, and it's time for review.

I'd appreciate any guidance or input with what I should do.
Thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Your school's courses should give you enough exposure to each subfields to give a bit of idea what you do in each of them. Hopefully by the time you start applying for universities, you will have a general idea what you like to do. In the first year of two in the university, there will be more introductory type courses, as well as advisers in the departments to help you with deciding what you want to do.

(I am assuming education system in SG isn't too different from commonwealth countries like AU/NZ)

Actually I'm in Australia... complicated :P
Just wanted to know how I'm doing?, that is, am I ahead/behind/just right?

Looks like you are ahead a bit in maths comparing to when I was 16. In terms of science it looks pretty similar. As long as you are comfortable with the current curriculum in your classes, you're fine.

Hey, I am Andreas from Germany. I am currently 35 years old and I want to relearn math and physics. This is not one of these regular questions when it comes to this matter. So... I am very realistic about it. I know that there are severe contraints when it comes to selfstudy compared to a regular school and/or university (structure, peers, teachers, learning groups, tests, access to papers and so on) . I will never get a job in this field and I will never be taken serious by "real"...
Yesterday, 9/5/2025, when I was surfing, I found an article The Schwarzschild solution contains three problems, which can be easily solved - Journal of King Saud University - Science ABUNDANCE ESTIMATION IN AN ARID ENVIRONMENT https://jksus.org/the-schwarzschild-solution-contains-three-problems-which-can-be-easily-solved/ that has the derivation of a line element as a corrected version of the Schwarzschild solution to Einstein’s field equation.
