How do torsion springs work and what are their formulas?

Could someone please point me in the right direction for finding formulas dealing with torsion springs and also understanding more about how they work?

Not sure how much detail you want.

$$\tau = C\theta$$

where $\tau$ = torque = force*length of moment arm

and C = angular/torsional spring constant.
