About how far apart can the slits get, in the double slit experiment, and still show the interference pattern?

It should be comparable to the wavelength of the light. If you increase it to values significantly higher than that, there will be no interference pattern. In fact the pattern becomes smaller and smaller until at first your eyes and then your detectors don't have the required resolution to perceive it.

More precisely, the maxima (peaks) become narrower and narrower, and spaced closer and closer together.

Insights auto threads is broken atm, so I'm manually creating these for new Insight articles. If we release an electron around a positively charged sphere, the initial state of electron is a linear combination of Hydrogen-like states. According to quantum mechanics, evolution of time would not change this initial state because the potential is time independent. However, classically we expect the electron to collide with the sphere. So, it seems that the quantum and classics predict different behaviours!
