AI Thread Summary
Sending catalysts overseas involves considerations related to the specific type of chemical being shipped, as various materials can serve as catalysts. Common catalysts like zeolites, ZnO, and SiO2 are widely available internationally. It is crucial to consult with the shipping provider regarding necessary US Customs forms or declarations for importing these materials. Additional guidance can be found on the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) website, which provides information on importing goods into the US.

Hi all,

Have any of you ever sent materials such as catalysts overseas?

Very much appreciated

It really depends on the specific chemical... many different things can act as catalysts for some kind of reaction.

Well, they can be easily purchased in almost any country. The materials are zeolites, ZnO and SiO2. I wonder if I will need some kind of permit or something.

Thank you

You should probably talk to your shipper about what US Customs forms or declarations you will need.

Here is some info from the US CBP agency about importing goods into the US:

Thread 'My experience as a hostage'
I believe it was the summer of 2001 that I made a trip to Peru for my work. I was a private contractor doing automation engineering and programming for various companies, including Frito Lay. Frito had purchased a snack food plant near Lima, Peru, and sent me down to oversee the upgrades to the systems and the startup. Peru was still suffering the ills of a recent civil war and I knew it was dicey, but the money was too good to pass up. It was a long trip to Lima; about 14 hours of airtime...
