How to Simplify and Compute a Polynomial Sum?

AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around computing a polynomial sum, specifically \(\sum^3_{x=0}(x^2 + 2x + 2)\). Participants clarify the notation and suggest that the sum involves substituting values of \(x\) from 0 to 3 into the polynomial and adding the results. There is confusion regarding the original expression and the proper use of LaTeX formatting. Additionally, a request for information on endogenous money theory is made, but it is deemed off-topic for the current thread. The conversation emphasizes the importance of clear mathematical notation and appropriate forum topics.

write out the following sum and compute where possible

\sum 3 x =0 (x2 + 2x + 2)

is that clear?

do you mean

\sum _{n = .3}(x^2+2x+2) = ?

when x=0

??

Now where is the index n in the expression to be summed over?

And where is your attempt to solution?

Malawi that doesn't make much sense either.
Missusa, if you can't write proper LaTeX, it's better to do it completely without. For example, write
"Sum from n = 1 to infinity of (e^(-n / 3) / n^2)"

Maybe OP means:

\sum^3 _{x= 0}(x^2+2x+2)

Is Integral right about what you mean? Then the sum, from x= 0 to 3 means you replace the "x" in x2+ 2x+ 2 by 0, then by 1, then by 2, then by 3, and add:
(02+ 3(0)+ 2)+ (12+ 2(1)+ 2)+ (22+ 2(2)+ 2)+ (32+ 2(3)+ 2)

That's about the only way I see it making sense. Same as if the limits of summation were n = 0, 3 and x = n, an integer.

Thank you so much you two are very smart...I do appreciate your help. That is what I meant but I could not write it the way it was.

Thanks again,

Can I get some information about Endogenous Moeny: honrizontalism and structuralism??

Definitely not. Especially if you are talking about Levi-Strauss anthropological structuralism with gratuitous misspellings.

That would be better suited in another thread, either in other sciences or in the economic forums.

Ostensibly, such a disussion is found in one's macroeconomic textbook, or one can search on Google with the keywords. Nevertheless -
