SUMMARY

Building a small particle accelerator is not feasible for individuals with limited knowledge and resources, particularly for an 8th grader. The construction of such a device requires a comprehensive understanding of high-voltage electricity and radiation safety, both of which pose significant risks. The forum discussion concluded that due to safety concerns, it is inadvisable to pursue this project without proper expertise and training. Consequently, the thread was locked to prevent potential hazards.

PREREQUISITES
  • High-voltage electricity safety protocols
  • Radiation safety knowledge
  • Basic principles of particle physics
  • Understanding of electrical engineering concepts
NEXT STEPS
  • Research high-voltage electricity safety standards
  • Study radiation safety guidelines and regulations
  • Learn about particle physics fundamentals
  • Explore basic electrical engineering principles
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for educators, safety professionals, and anyone interested in understanding the complexities and dangers associated with building high-energy physics equipment.

I am looking for a way to make a small particle accelerator for really cheap. I am in 8th grade and do not know a lot or have a lot of money but still want a project. if you have a pdf or other doc of plans that would be much appreciated thanks.

This is impossible (given your level of knowledge) and dangerous.

I'm sorry but building a particle accelerator requires working knowledge of both high-voltage electricity and radiation, both of which can kill or injure you or someone else nearby. Without knowing how to safely work with these, you are putting yourself and others in danger. Unfortunately, we cannot teach you everything you need to know about how to safely work with electricity and radiation. It's just beyond the scope of this forum.

Thread locked due to safety concerns.
