AI Thread Summary
Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" may feel outdated due to changes in astronomical classifications, such as Pluto no longer being considered a planet. However, much of the content remains relevant, as fundamental cosmological concepts have not drastically changed in recent years. Viewers are encouraged to appreciate the series for its historical significance and emotional impact rather than focusing solely on scientific updates. While advancements in technology and measurements have occurred, the core themes of exploration and wonder in "Cosmos" continue to resonate. Overall, the series remains a valuable experience despite its age.

I want to watch Cosmos again but I worry about its age -- what should I keep in mind when watching?

Pluto isn't a planet.

don't worry about that, just enjoy it :)

I won't be able to enjoy it as much if I am taking in outdated facts. I was just wondering what has been updated since.

We're still here. That's something.

Most of it is probably pretty accurate...cosmology hasn't made any huge leaps in a while (measurements of background gamma radiation and deep space telescopes aside).

I can't help but tear up when I watch Cosmos. :/
