Insert Image: Troubleshooting Guide for General Physics Threads

AI Thread Summary
To successfully insert an image in a General Physics thread, ensure you use the correct image URL format. The image URL must be a direct link to the image itself, not a webpage containing the image. Users should avoid including additional URL formatting like bbcode in the image URL. The issue often arises from incorrectly formatted links, so simplifying the input to just the direct image URL can resolve the problem. Following these guidelines will help ensure images are properly displayed in forum posts.

I am trying to insert an image to a thread I want to start in the General Physics area. This is what I have done:

1. Click the "image" icon in the above toolbar
2. I have the image uploaded on "photobucket" and went to the section "shared links" option of "IMG"
3. I clicked into the space to choose that option
4. right clicked and chose "paste" into the space labelled "image url"
5. Clicked insert button

http://[URL=http://s827.photobucket.com/user/gloo68/media/funneledpiston.png.html][ATTACH=full]199580[/ATTACH]

I don't see it working. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I think it has to do with what I included in the paste of the link

Take out the URL bbcode and just place the URL between the IMG tags. It's important to remember to use a publicly accessible address that leads to the image only, not a page that contains the image

Greg, I don't know what i did to get it to work...lol. I can't even find myself in the dark. Basically i deleted everything except the tags and what is between it. I got the image inserted because i just pasted the entire thing i copied form photobucket and thought the xxx would make it not get picked up as a link. Guess that's who i got the image up. Maybe i will just go with that method.
