How did you find PF?
I googled “particle physics forum” to read about Carl Anderson’s cloud chamber experiment.
I was hoping to find out if the positrons that he saw annihilated at the end of their track. If so, do they release much radiation? Have people tried to measure this radiation? I’ve been reading around the forum a bit and haven’t found an answer.

This thread is supposed to be just your personal introduction. You should post your question in the High Energy and Particle Physics forum.

To answer your question about detecting radiation from Positron annihilation, the answer is yes. In fact, it is used in PET scans.

Hello everyone, I'm Cosmo. I'm an 18 years old student majoring in physics. I found this forum cause I was searching on Google if it's common for physics student to feel like they're in the wrong major in the first semester cause it feels like too much for me to learn the materials even the ones that are considered as "basic math" or "basic physics", I've initial fascination with the universe's mysteries and it disconnect with the reality of intense, foundational mathematics courses required...
