Is a Spearman's Coefficient of 1 Indicative of a Linear Relationship?

I have a quick question about Spearmans Coefficient of Rank Correlation. If the value is 1 then are the points on the graph linear?

If yes, thanks.

If no, I am slightly confused (unless the value can be 1 for points that increase in multiples or something)

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about, then for the two values +1 and -1 the points are on a straight line. If the line has positive slope then it will be +1 and if negative slope then -1.
 
Yeah so if the value is 1 then the line will be straight (linear)

I posted this in the Lame Math thread, but it's got me thinking. Is there any validity to this? Or is it really just a mathematical trick? Naively, I see that i2 + plus 12 does equal zero2. But does this have a meaning? I know one can treat the imaginary number line as just another axis like the reals, but does that mean this does represent a triangle in the complex plane with a hypotenuse of length zero?
