Oh, yes! Not the "syrup" that you find in supermarket, but real 100% maple syrup. It is killer on pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.

My favorite recipe for smoked salmon is to brine a salmon fillet, rinse it, rub it with salt and pepper, drench it with maple syrup in a tin-foil boat, and smoke it in my charcoal-fired Brinkman smoker with lots of damp hickory chips. The taste is amazing!
 
I would say it depends on what you are using it for, but as far as just taste then I would say yes I prefer maple syrup over honey.

Never been that impressed with maple syrup... But then I have never spent any time in regions were it is made.

I can't imagine using it in place of honey... Peanut butter and maple syrup just does not sound right.
