Homework Statement

I have a coil that is connected to 60hz, 100V ac generator. At this frequency, the coil has an impedance of 11.1 ohms and a reactance of 8.8 ohms. I need to find what series capacitance is required so the the current and voltage are in phase.

Homework Equations

X(L) = X(c) ; X(L) = 1 / (wc)

The Attempt at a Solution

I have tried implemented the solution above, but I don't seem to be getting the correct answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

X(L) = 1 / (wc)= 1 / (2pi*60hz*C)= 1 / (376.99 * C)= 8.8 ohms / CC = 8.8 ohms / X(L)C = 8.8 ohms / 8.8 ohms C = 1 Farad
