AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the need for resources and strategies to better understand the application of linear equations in real-world scenarios, particularly through word problems. The participant expresses difficulty in grasping the methods and formulas used in solving these problems, despite practicing and reviewing correct answers. They mention finding a specific resource helpful but are seeking additional input and alternative approaches to improve their understanding. The emphasis is on the importance of repetitive exposure to the material to enhance comprehension.

Hello all,
does anyone know of any math books, websites or just some plain tips to help with imaging using math in the real world(word problems). I need help understanding applications of linear equations.

Figured someone might know something I didn't. I have been doing practice problems and getting them wrong and see the process for the right answer. Yet I still do not understand some methods. I don't understand the formulas they come up. Mainly when I am manipulating a formula it doesn't end up the same, or completely lost with the wording. I have done a simple Google search and foundhttp://catalog.flatworldknowledge.com/bookhub/reader/128?e=fwk-redden-ch02_s05 pretty helpful. Looking for some extra input and possibly a different way to approach these problems. Anything is helpful.
I am sure with some repetitive exposure I will start to get it.

The book is fascinating. If your education includes a typical math degree curriculum, with Lebesgue integration, functional analysis, etc, it teaches QFT with only a passing acquaintance of ordinary QM you would get at HS. However, I would read Lenny Susskind's book on QM first. Purchased a copy straight away, but it will not arrive until the end of December; however, Scribd has a PDF I am now studying. The first part introduces distribution theory (and other related concepts), which...
I've gone through the Standard turbulence textbooks such as Pope's Turbulent Flows and Wilcox' Turbulent modelling for CFD which mostly Covers RANS and the closure models. I want to jump more into DNS but most of the work i've been able to come across is too "practical" and not much explanation of the theory behind it. I wonder if there is a book that takes a theoretical approach to Turbulence starting from the full Navier Stokes Equations and developing from there, instead of jumping from...
