Bug Missing Revision Time Stamps on Edited Posts: A New Bug on PF?

AI Thread Summary
A new bug on PF has emerged where revision time stamps on edited posts are not visible to users who are not logged in, while logged-in users can still see them. Some users speculate this change may have been intentional, though the purpose remains unclear. There is debate over whether this lack of visibility is a significant issue, with some arguing that guests do not need to see edit times. Others suggest that the change could impact user experience, especially when edits are made in response to other posts. Overall, the discussion highlights concerns about the implications of this bug for both user engagement and site functionality.

I just now noticed a glitch in PF that seems to have started happening today. The revision time stamp on edited posts seems to have disappeared, if you are not logged into PF. But the revision time stamps still appear, as usual, if you are logged in. Do other people notice this new bug? What is causing the edit time stamps to disappear, at the moment?

It was done on purpose. Is it a problem?

I just tried to think what purpose it might serve, and failed

But since I use the "remember me" login option, presumably it doesn't affect me anyway.

The more topic irrelevant noise is on the page the less Google tends to like it.

I don't see why a guest needs to know edit times, so didn't think it was a big deal.

Sometimes posts get edited in response to a later post, but I don't think it's a big deal either, compared with Google targetting PF with ads for clocks, or editing software

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
This came up in my job today (UXP). Never thought to raise it here on PF till now. Hyperlinks really should be underlined at all times. PF only underlines them when they are rolled over. Colour alone (especially dark blue/purple) makes it difficult to spot a hyperlink in a large block of text (or even a small one). Not everyone can see perfectly. Even if they don't suffer from colour deficiency, not everyone has the visual acuity to distinguish two very close shades of text. Hover actions...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
