AI Thread Summary
The discussion revolves around the valuation of various websites, with a particular focus on the tool from dnscoop.com, which estimates the worth of different domains. Initial claims about a nearly $9 million valuation for a site sparked skepticism, with participants questioning how such a figure could be justified given the site's ad revenue potential. Comparisons are made to other notable websites, revealing Wikipedia's estimated worth at about $1.5 billion and Yahoo's at around $2 billion, which some participants found dubious due to the seemingly arbitrary nature of the valuations. There are humorous exchanges about the value of lesser-known sites, with one participant joking about the worth of their own work site and another referencing the quick rise in value of Richard Dawkins' site. Technical issues with the dnscoop website were also discussed, with users experiencing difficulties in retrieving information. Overall, the conversation highlights the often speculative nature of website valuations and the lighthearted banter among participants regarding their own sites' worth.

Don't show this to Greg, he might want to cash out

For what? How could you sell it for 9 million? Sure it creates some revenue from ads (no idea how much) but I don't think you'd get 9 million out of PF any time fast. Lol, very interesting tool though :).

Dont work??

edit: woops, nevermind. Lol, misread the numbers.

Their own website is worth only a pitiful $8,750

Wikipedia is apparently worth about 1.5 billion.

The fledgling www.richarddawkins.net is already up to over half a mil. It's not even a year old yet.

(BTW Dawkins' site is the current area of operations for the well-known online errorist known as Lifegazer. )

OK, so suppose my site is worth a couple of a billion dollars. Who's there to buy my site. Who can I sell it to?

edit: nvm mind, if found that 'sell your site' link.
