AI Thread Summary
PhD Comics is experiencing a slowdown in new strip releases, with updates occurring approximately every two weeks. This has led to speculation about the potential discontinuation of the series. However, it has been clarified that the reduced frequency is due to creator Jorge Cham working on other projects, and there is no imminent end to the comic. Once these projects are completed, the comic's update schedule is expected to return to normal. Some users express mixed feelings about the comic, with some enjoying its humor while others dislike it. Overall, the community is awaiting further announcements regarding Jorge's projects, which are anticipated to enhance the comic's future.

Does anyone know what going on with PhD comic? Their new strips come out like once every two weeks now. Are they going to be discontinued soon?

Why? Though I am not a grad student, I like to read them. It is just something to get a laugh from during the day.

It is just my personal opinion. For some reason, I hate the whole series.

Why is that that?

are you professor smith?

The tragedy is that this is the sole 'comic' element used in the series.

Updates - Comic updates may be a little spotty in the next few weeks as Jorge is working on a couple of projects.

This is disturbing. It's a clearly a signal of the coming end.

Thirteen years in grad school and he's finally doing a couple projects. He'll actually finish soon and then the comic strips will stop coming for good.

No, the series is not being discontinued.

The lack of new comics is due to certain projects that Jorge is working on which I may or may not be involved in .

EDIT: Just a note about this. The nature of the project is such that after its completion, the frequency of comics should return to normal. No end to PhD comics is imminent.

In a way I'm happy that they took a break: I get more work done  Now I actually do things instead of reading comics. The only thing I need to work very hard is somebody stopping xkcd

Don't worry. Jorge's project will burn enough of your time to make up for time gained due to less strips.

Unless you're really really slow at reading comic strips.

The site says he'll make the big announcement soon, so I might be able to give some more specifics then.

We've put a lot of work into this, though, so you guys should enjoy it!

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I wasn't able to edit my previous post.
