Piezo electricity generation using piezoelectric disk(buzzer).

Click For Summary

Discussion Overview

The discussion centers around the use of piezoelectric disks to generate energy from pedestrian movement on footpaths. Participants are exploring circuit options and the potential voltage output from these disks in the context of a project.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Homework-related

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks guidance on which circuit to use for their project involving piezoelectric disks.
  • Another participant references a previous thread that may provide helpful information regarding circuit design.
  • A participant mentions that piezoelectric disks can generate voltages between 10mV to 100mV when used as guitar pickups.
  • It is suggested that using more disks could produce a higher voltage sufficient for power storage.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants have not reached a consensus on the best circuit design or the optimal number of disks needed for effective energy generation, indicating that multiple views and uncertainties remain.

Contextual Notes

There are limitations regarding the specific circuit designs and configurations that may be suitable for the project, as well as the assumptions about voltage outputs based on different applications of piezoelectric disks.

Welcome to the PF.

This previous thread from here in the EE forum should be of help:

https://www.physicsforums.com/showthread.php?t=373327

Once you read that thread and do some other reading (assuming wikipedia comes back up tomorrow), let us know if you have specific questions. Remember, this is *your* school project, so you must do the bulk of the research and development work.

These discs can be used as guitar pickups and in that application generate voltages of about 10mV to 100mV... something for you to go on.

But the more no. Of disk produce more voltage that can be sufficiant power to store.
