Please recommend good textbook to learn about oscilloscope

AI Thread Summary
For preparing for the Physics GRE, particularly regarding oscilloscope-related questions, it's essential to focus on practical usage and operation of oscilloscopes rather than just theoretical concepts. While some participants mentioned reading materials like the XYZ primer, they found it lacking in detail. Engaging with hands-on experience is crucial; using a physical oscilloscope or virtual simulations can enhance understanding. Online resources may provide valuable insights and practical exercises to improve familiarity with oscilloscope functions and applications.

I'm preparing for Physics GRE.
I never took experiment course in college except experiment in general physics.
Seeing previous 4 tests, I found there is oscilloscope problem.
What is good book for learning about oscilloscope?
I read XYZ primer but it's not much detailed.

Are you looking for material on the physics of how CRT oscilloscopes work (accelerated electrons, etc.), or are you looking for material on how to use and operate an oscilloscope?

To learn about using an oscilloscope, you should do some reading, but you also should actually play with an oscilloscope. I suspect that good material can be found on-line, including simulations that let you operate a virtual oscilloscope.

I'm looking for material on how to use oscilloscope.

Hi, I have notice that Ashcroft, Mermin and Wei worked at a revised edition of the original solid state physics book (here). The book, however, seems to be never available. I have also read that the reason is related to some disputes related to copyright. Do you have any further information about it? Did you have the opportunity to get your hands on this revised edition? I am really curious about it, also considering that I am planning to buy the book in the near future... Thanks!
