Anyone ever seen the movie/ read the book Awakenings by Oliver Sacks? http://www.oliversacks.com/awake.htm Terri Schiavo has a different condition than these people, but it is interesting that people given up as hopeless can awaken again. The movie stars Robert de Niro and Robin Williams.
