I know these calculations in thermodynamics can be done by hand or a simple calculator but I wonder if some programs do these calculations. These programs might be called multiphysics programs. An example of a calculation - select piston-cylinder arrangement.
-enter initial volume and pressure; P1 V1
- enter final volume and polytropic exponent
- calculate work done
This calculation can be performed in numerical analysis programs or CAS but can multiphysics programs have an advantage?

Thank you.

British Gas did precisely this and I know the programmer if you are interested?

What do you mean by I know the programmer? Do you mean program itself?

Meanwhile can some multiphysics programs do such things? Is "British Gas" a multiphysics program. When I googled it I saw a company not a program.

Thank you.
