Discussion Overview

The discussion revolves around finding a software program that allows users to draw mathematical functions and highlight enclosed areas without relying on inequalities. The scope includes software recommendations and alternative methods for achieving the desired graphical output.

Discussion Character

  • Exploratory, Technical explanation, Debate/contested

Main Points Raised

  • One participant seeks a program that can draw functions and highlight enclosed areas directly.
  • Another participant suggests a workaround involving creating the graph in one program and then using a graphics program to fill the area, indicating this method has been successfully used before.
  • A later reply acknowledges the workaround but emphasizes the desire for a single application solution.
  • Some participants express uncertainty about the availability of such a program but suggest that it might be possible to find one.
  • There is a reiteration of the importance of exploring alternative methods to achieve the desired outcome.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

Participants generally agree on the need for a program that meets the specified requirements, but there is no consensus on whether such a program exists. Multiple views on alternative methods are presented, indicating an unresolved discussion.

Contextual Notes

The discussion does not clarify specific software names or features, and there is uncertainty regarding the technological capabilities required to achieve the desired results.

Hello, good morning.

I would like to know if someone knows a program to be able to draw the functions in the same way as the one shown in the image and also allow me to point out an enclosure formed by them without having to use inequalities to do so.

Thank you very much for everything beforehand.

As a work-around, you could always do the graph and then drop it into a graphics program and flood-fill the area you want with the color you want, as I have done here w/ the yellow:

Okay, thank you very much but what I was looking for was to be able to do it all from a single application.

Oh, I understood that. I was just looking for an alternative in case you can't find one. I suspect you WILL be able to find one, but am not familiar enough w/ the technology to be sure and being an engineer, I always look for a way to achieve the end result using alternate methods if needed.

Yes, it's really a very good alternative if I'm not finally able to find another remedy, I appreciate it very much.
