Mr. Mittens (my neighbor's kitty) continues to come by over the last couple weeks or so to occasionally pass the time with naps.

"Mittens napping on one of his favorite astronomy books" (natural light, 50 mm, f/0.95)

"The waiting game" (natural light, 50 mm, f/1.4) Mr. Mittens keeps an ear out, listening for the neighbors (his real family). Sure, he tolerates me and feels safe enough to occasionally nap at my place, but he knows who his real family is.

I've worked several shifts at Comic-Con events in San Jose. Was this the 72 hour straight version? Those get real interesting, especially near the end...

I was out yesterday planning to shoot the lunar eclipse later in the evening, and while waiting I shot this photo.

Look at it... what a boring photo... just some field, right?

And what's that in the middle of it, a scarecrow or a bird, or?

I can't quite make out what it is, let's zoom in further...

Oh, it's a deer in the middle of a field.

"I'm just hanging out here..."

Definitely not amazing photos, but I thought it was pretty fun anyway .

Considering the distance to the deer was estimated to be 350 meters, it's pretty amazing that a modern camera and a vintage 400mm lens can pick up that much detail, I think.

...luckily I had my 400mm tele lens on tripod, so it was quite easy to shoot...

On the way home from Huntsville, Alabama earlier this month, I stopped in Blue Ridge, Georgia to ride the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway.

The other end of the line is in the conjoined towns of McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee. The boundary crosses the station platform and the main street.

This steel bridge originally spanned a different river in a different town.

Better not mess with the folks here!

I've always liked dragonflies ...

Me to, because of

1. They look cool
2. It's not often I see them, and they are quite difficult to shoot
3. They do as they please, very much like butterflies. They decide where to go, what to do, how long to stay and you as a photographer are just at the mercy of their whims . A bit annoying, but also thrilling.
4. They have amazing, truly amazing flying skills (see e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonfly#Flight).

In some states, drug stores can sell package liquor. I saw this at CVS in Illinois and Indiana last month. I don't know about Georgia, although I doubt it. Not in SC, at least not around here.

Two drummers last night at the Flowerpot in Derby, me a lefty and the righty had a rack so no chance of sharing. So, two kits. The stage looked more a drum clinic.

We were only in Jakriborg for a short while, but I will probably return for some more photographing since I had not been there before.

Jakriborg's architectural style has a variety of intricate maze-like streets and passageways. Jakriborg is not connected to traditional styles of other, more northern, parts of Scandinavia, nor with the functionalism that has been dominant in most of Europe for much of the 20th century. Instead, the style is inspired by pre-industrial town architecture found in the coastal region of the southern Baltic and the North Sea between Flanders and Tallinn, of which the old Hansa City of Lübeck is the best known example.
