The turnoff to Kuwohi (formerly Clingman's Dome) is a short distance ahead down the road. You can zoom in on the directional sign at the right side of the photo. I didn't go there for lack of time, and because I'd been there already some years ago.Andy Resnick said:Nice! Is that near Clingman's dome? We were there (and Asheville) a few months prior to Hurricane Helene; how does everything look now?
The park looked OK to me, at least along US-441. The NPS has surely done a lot of cleanup work along there. Also, there are still a lot of fallen trees etc. throughout the region. I've gotten accustomed to them so they don't register with me unless they're huge or there's a large cluster of them.
On the way up to Knoxville I made a point of driving along the river through Asheville, through the River Arts corridor. There are many empty lots, foundations of buildings that were washed away, and some badly damaged buildings that haven't been torn down or repaired yet. The ritzy Biltmore Village neighborhood seems to be mostly up and running, though.
