That time of year again... tho I'm a little out of practice..

I've tried shooting snowflakes before but the result was not very good (they were with a lot of other snowflakes, i.e. they got quite obscured by the joint white background of the snow).
And I remember it was very tricky too.

It seems you managed to get single/few snowflakes on a dark background, which yields a good contrast so the snowflakes can be easily seen.

Thanks! The 'secret' was to put a black baking sheet down for the snow to fall onto.

I was surprised to find this photo online. I was there. This occurred near my home when I was very young. I remember jumping in the car with my dad and driving over to see it. When we got there, the blimp was still suspended in the power lines and fully inflated.

We lived near the Goodyear base and on a regular flight path for them. We all got very good at recognizing the distant hum of the propellers as the craft was approaching. They usually passed over our house just after dark on summer evenings with their light shows on full display.

It did a beautiful job really. It looks authentic! It's a Camry Limo. That's where you put your golf clubs.

Three months after Hurricane Helene (only a tropical storm by the time it got here), some stuff still needs to be cleaned up.

Fortunately, none of it is on our property.

New to me process:

A few days ago I discovered that a pipe in a wall was intermittently leaking out water.
The black area on the wall to the right is the hole I made to see the leak.
The plumbing was a simple fix, but the wall and some adjacent wood floor got wet.

Some guys came in a put these mats down (connected but a non-collapsible tube from the round connections in the middle to a machine that draws a slight vacuum from under the mats (which have dimples under them to maintain an air space under the mats to evaporate the water out).
I have never seen these before!

Its been going for several days and the floorboards have been significantly de-warped.
We have to wait to see what will end up happening (probably a wall demo/replacement).

We (Mossley) had a player sent off after 4 minutes, he probably could not see where he was tackling!
