does anyone have some recent experience with scolarships for out-of state scholarships they could let me know about...I already meet all the requirements on my sats and what not for anything instate, but i live in florida and was looking at either caltech, or mit definitely for a major, and mabye for an undergrad if at all possible. I am pretty sure they don't hand out scholarships so i wouldent have much possibility with one from the school directly... what does anyone else think. (im still a sophomore in high school.. I am in no great hurry for answers but am curious...)

Firstly, it is important to note that scholarships for out-of-state students are competitive and limited. However, there are still opportunities available for students like you who are looking to attend prestigious schools like Caltech or MIT.

One option is to research and apply for scholarships specific to your intended major. Many organizations and companies offer scholarships for students pursuing degrees in STEM fields, which align with the majors you mentioned. Additionally, you can also look into scholarships offered by your state or local government for students studying out-of-state.

Another option is to check with the financial aid office at the schools you are interested in attending. They may have information on scholarships specifically for out-of-state students or can guide you towards external scholarship opportunities.

It is also important to keep your grades and extracurricular activities strong, as many scholarships take these into consideration. And as you mentioned, your SAT scores are already meeting the requirements, which is a great start.

In conclusion, while it may be more challenging to secure scholarships as an out-of-state student, it is not impossible. With research, determination, and maintaining a strong academic record, you may be able to find and apply for scholarships that can help make your dream of attending a top university a reality. Best of luck in your journey!
