Reduction in the time range of a species

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the observation that the existence of hominid species appears to be decreasing over time, with modern species like Neanderthals having shorter lifespans compared to earlier species like Homo erectus. The conversation suggests that this trend may be linked to increased information and knowledge, which could reduce variability in survival and adaptation. The analogy drawn between the duration of hominid existence and the inverse relationship between piracy and global temperatures highlights the potential influence of environmental and social factors on species longevity. Overall, the reduction in duration of hominid species raises questions about evolutionary pressures and the role of information in shaping survival outcomes.

6) REDUCTION OF DURATION? Why are the durations of species of

hominids decreasing over time? The more modern the hominid, the

shorter its existence. For example, according to wikipedia, Homo

erectus lived from 1,900,000 BC to 70,000 BC. By comparison, the

more recent neaderthals lived from 130,000 BC to 40,000 BC. Why is

the existence of the neanderthal so much shorter?

My guess is that it's the same reason that piracy is inversely related to global temperatures.

I would be inclined to suspect that the shorter modern ranges are mainly due to increased information. That decreases the "standard deviation" involved.

I see, thank you

https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/conditions/body-dysmorphia/ Most people have some mild apprehension about their body, such as one thinks their nose is too big, hair too straight or curvy. The study provides critical new insights into the African Humid Period, a time between 14,500 and 5,000 years ago when the Sahara desert was a green savanna, rich in water bodies that facilitated human habitation and the spread of pastoralism. Later aridification turned this region into the world's largest desert. Due to the extreme aridity of the region today, DNA preservation is poor, making this pioneering ancient DNA study all the more significant. Genomic analyses reveal that the...
Whenever these opiods are mentioned they usually mention that e.g. fentanyl is "50 times stronger than heroin" and "100 times stronger than morphine". Now it's nitazene which the public is told is everything from "much stronger than heroin" and "200 times stronger than fentany"! Do these numbers make sense at all? How do they arrive at them? Kill thousands of mice? En passant: nitazene have already been found in both Oxycontin pills and in street "heroin" here, so Naloxone is more...
