Hi, I know this is a long shot, but I might as well give it a go.

I'm wondering if there are any Aussie (in Victoria particularly) academics, or researchers out there who need a keen research assistant for a couple of days a week. I have just finished second year of an Applied physics degree and am particularly interested in materials characterisation/surface physics.

Even if I could find out the names of some organisations (in Aus) that would be potential employers, that would be great. (or maybe somebody has an interesting honours year, or masters project in mind that they will need a student for after next year?)

Cheers.

TL;DR Summary: I want to do a PhD in applied math but I hate group theory, is this a big problem? Hello, I am a second-year math and physics double major with a minor in data science. I just finished group theory (today actually), and it was my least favorite class in all of university so far. It doesn't interest me, and I am also very bad at it compared to other math courses I have done. The other courses I have done are calculus I-III, ODEs, Linear Algebra, and Prob/Stats. Is it a...
