AI Thread Summary
A thread is closed for moderation when it raises concerns that require review by mentors, often due to issues like inappropriate content or member disputes. The closure can occur if a user expresses dissatisfaction with previous moderation actions, as seen in the case of a thread being moved to a different forum. Users are encouraged to reach out to the mentor who closed the thread for clarification. Factors such as title quality, grammar, and controversial claims can also influence moderation decisions. It's important to await mentor guidance before reposting or continuing discussions.

I'm curious to what defines a thread to be closed "for moderation" ??
Is the title bad?
Lots of spilling errors or bad grammar?
Do I claim something like the Earth being flat ?
Or is it wrong to interpret things with different ways?

Your thread was closed for Moderation because you said your previous thread was moved to the schoolwork forums and you weren't happy about that so you would repost. Please wait for the Moderators to handle the situation.

If there's a possible issue then a thread is usually closed while the mentors discuss it and decide on what, if any, action to take.
If you have a question about a specific thread, your best bet is to contact the mentor who closed the thread.

I want to thank those members who interacted with me a couple of years ago in two Optics Forum threads. They were @Drakkith, @hutchphd, @Gleb1964, and @KAHR-Alpha. I had something I wanted the scientific community to know and slipped a new idea in against the rules. Thank you also to @berkeman for suggesting paths to meet with academia. Anyway, I finally got a paper on the same matter as discussed in those forum threads, the fat lens model, got it peer-reviewed, and IJRAP...
About 20 years ago, in my mid-30s (and with a BA in economics and a master's in business), I started taking night classes in physics hoping to eventually earn the science degree I'd always wanted but never pursued. I found physics forums and used it to ask questions I was unable to get answered from my textbooks or class lectures. Unfortunately, work and life got in the way and I never got further the freshman courses. Well, here it is 20 years later. I'm in my mid-50s now, and in a...
